Sealing off the ductwork

Little animals kept getting into my house and I couldn’t figure out how they were doing it. It wasn’t just bugs; I even saw a little lizards in the house. Once, I even saw a frog. I talked to my friend about it and she said maybe I should have someone look at my ductwork. She told me the same thing was happening to her a few years back and it turned out that the animals were getting into her house through a gap in her ductwork system. She had a heating and air conditioning company come out and they sealed her ductwork off and she hasn’t had the problem since. I never would have thought of that. I had already checked the sealing around my doors and windows. I couldn’t figure out, for the life of me, how the animals were getting into my home. I decided to go ahead and call up the same heating and cooling company that my friend had used a few years ago. They came out and crawled under my house. They said that, sure enough, my ductwork has large gaps in it and this is probably how the animals are getting in my house. Not only is this unsanitary, but large amounts of my heated and cooled air is escaping. This wastes energy. I had the heating and cooling company go ahead and do a thorough ductwork cleaning and then a ductwork sealing. It took them over a day to finish everything but I haven’t seen any bugs or lizards in my home since.
