I don’t think I have ever seen my dad so confused as when he got his new HVAC system.
When he had it installed, they also gave him a free Smart Thermostat for the house.
My didn’t know how to install the Smart Thermostat and he called to see if I could help me. I had to admit that I was almost as confused and I asked why he didn’t let the HVAC tech install it. He told me it was going to cost him $50 if he had them install the thermostat. I had to smile because that was my dad. I tried my best to figure what to do with the thermostat. I wired it in the way the instructions showed, but it didn’t work. I tried different things to get the thermostat installed, but nothing worked. No one in our family had ever had a Smart Thermostat and I didn’t know who to call. I finally went on YouTube and I found a video. It seems that YouTube has videos fors everything. After five minutes, I was ready to give up on the Smart Thermostat, and so was my dad. I miss those days when you simply hit a button and the thermostat begins to work. You check the batteries on a yearly basis. Life is changing so quickly anymore, and nothing stays the same. I used to laugh when I saw the movies with flying cars, but even that doesn’t seem so far-fetched anymore. I’m defeated by a thermostat, which makes me feel very old and stupid.
