New girl from the North thinks we need to crank up the cooling system

In our office, we don’t get many new hires very often.

Recently, there was a new girl who carried herself in a different way than most people we knew.

It was crazy because she actually went to the thermostat and cranked up the air conditioning. I actually had to shout at her and said, “Hey new girl! What do you think you’re doing with the thermostat?” She seemed a bit embarrassed and then I talked to her. I asked her if she was feeling overheated or something. That’s when she explained that she just moved here from the North and she was used to the colder temperatures. She said she felt way overheated in the building and she could use some additional air conditioning. I had to warn her that the boss didn’t appreciate it when anybody messed with the temperature control settings. There wasn’t a lock on the thermostat because everybody knew the rules when it came to the temperature control settings. Basically, everybody is used to the warm temperatures in our area, and the temperature control usually is set at 74 degrees. For most of us, this feels just right so there are usually no complaints. I actually felt bad for the new girl though because she was going to have to get used to temperature control settings that were a little too warm for her. I told her that she could blast the A/C at her home all she wanted, but if she wanted to keep her job, she better just get used to the temperature control settings the boss preferred. She thanked me for the warning, and she actually listened.
