Recently, our furnace completely died. We knew it was old when we bought the house and we had expected that the furnace would likely kick the bucket soon. While we were not excited about the additional expense, we were not shocked. We went to a heating dealership to see what kind of furnace options were available to us- we were hoping to find a furnace to help us cut down the cost of our monthly heating and cooling bills. When we arrived at the heating dealership, we were glad to see so many options for furnaces, space heaters, fire places, boilers, etc. Many of the furnaces had excellent SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) ratings. We started looking around at the different furnaces and prices with the various SEER ratings to find the best deal for us. A heating technician helped us immediately and answered all of our furnace and heating related questions. We were having some trouble with our back room getting heat- for some reason the air conditioning worked just fine- and he recommended that we either look into zoned HVAC or purchase a portable space heater just for that one room. We ended leaving with a new furnace with a great SEER rating and a portable space heater for the back room. Our monthly heating bill went way down after purchasing our new heating equipment, not to mention our climate control was way better. We might eventually end up zoning our HVAC to the back room, but for right now the portable space heater is doing great.
