There is something going on with our thermostat.
Sometimes it is hot and uncomfortable in the house even though the thermostat setting has not changed.
Other times it is cold. We pretty much always have the thermostat set to 74 degrees. In summer we set the air conditioner to 74. In winter we set the heater to 74. And yet, 74 is not always comfortable. I strongly suspect that there is something wrong with the thermostat. I have used independent thermometers in the house and they read up to 4 degrees differently than the thermostat reads. And now that it is spring I am sure there is something wrong with the thermostat. That is because we change back and forth between heating and cooling throughout the day. It is 50 degrees outside in the morning and 80 in the afternoon sometimes. When the thermostat is set to heat it will read 74 degrees. Then when we change it to air conditioning it will read 77 degrees immediately. So if the house is 77 degrees for the air conditioner than how could it also have been 74 degrees for the heater? It doesn’t make sense. I think we should just go ahead and get a new thermostat. We would be more comfortable and it would probably save us some money on our electric bill as well. Now we just need to decide if we want a traditional thermostat or a smart thermostat. The traditional thermostat is cheaper and we already know how to use it. However I am voting for the smart thermostat. We could figure out how to use it pretty quickly, it is not that expensive, plus it will be more convenient in the long run.
