I’m what you might describe as a helicopter mom.
I have trouble letting go of control of my kids’ lives. I really want to see them prosper and I worry that they aren’t able to make the right decisions on their own. I feel best when I’m watching over them making sure that they don’t do anything that will ruin their futures. I’m also constantly afraid that they are going to be injured in some way. I have to admit, my obsession with taking care of people goes beyond my children. In fact, it extends all the way to my pets. When it comes to taking care of animals I will do anything I have to. That’s why I’ve been very frustrated with our indoor air handling equipment lately. When we moved into this house we knew the central heating and cooling system was already rather old. We knew we would need to have a heating and cooling upgrade before too long. However, we didn’t have the money for a brand new air conditioning system or forced air furnace at that point. As such, we’ve been doing our best to keep the heating and cooling equipment chugging along until we can pay for the professional HVAC services that we require. Unfortunately, the sounds of the heating and cooling implements have been getting louder and more dramatic. At this point, the air conditioning system is so loud that it wakes up my dog. The bangs of the AC unit causes him to have terrible nightmares. Sometimes he wakes up in a panic and runs straight into the wall after the cooling system has gone on. As you can imagine, I am an unhappy helicopter mom because of our cooling system.
