My in-laws have a well located on their property that provides them with free natural gas… They’re able to run their furnace at no cost, but because of this, their apartment is constantly overheated, then we’re invited to their apartment for supper on Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter, but it doesn’t matter what the weather brings, I guess I’m going to sweat the entire time.
If there’s the slightest chill in the air, our in-laws keep the furnace blasting at maximum capacity, and all of us all try to turn the control unit down, however our mother or father-in-law instantly crank it back up.
My partner and I take turns trying to open a window without them knowing it. All of us volunteer to take out the garbage in order to spend a few minutes in the garage where it’s cooler. My in-laws get absolutely aggravated with open windows because it wastes energy. I’ve tried to explain that such high control unit settings are also a waste of energy, plus, with the cash they save on their heating bills, I would know they could afford to run an a/c. In the summer, they are reluctant to even start up a box fan because of the cost of electricity. This means that their apartment is also overheated and stuffy during the summer. Whether the outside temperature is in the mid-eighties or the disadvantage digits, every one of us all guess to dress in shorts and T-shirts for supper. All of us expect to be drenched in sweat the entire time. Because of the excessive wear and tear on their furnace, our in-laws need to replace their heating plan every more than four to several years.
