I learned that my father had cancer and my mother was really scared
My parents were always expecting me to get into a major university. I couldn’t tell you how angry they were when I told them I wanted to go to a trade school to become an HVAC technician. They even offered to pay for all my schooling if I would just go to one of these good schools. They said that a college education is what makes people successful, but I really just wanted to go my own way. I had my own plans and I felt like I didn’t need any help to achieve my dreams. My parents were so angry that they decided to disown me. They said they never wanted to hear from me again, and this was hurtful. I made my way though and became a really great HVAC professional. I worked for a solid HVAC company with an excellent reputation and I was able to get my own house. After many years working as an HVAC professional, eventually I was able to start my own HVAC business. My HVAC business became popular after I was running it for about 2 years. Eventually, my parents reached out to me and they apologized for cutting things off with me. They wanted to make things right so we got together for dinner. I learned that my father had cancer and my mother was really scared. I spent a lot of time with my father before he died, and it was really sad. I wished we were able to spend more time together and we never fell out with each other, but that’s just how things go sometimes. My mother and I promised to never let that happen again between us.
