I had just moved into this new apartment, in a decent neighborhood. I knew my presence alone caught the attention of my neighbors. It was about 3 o’clock in the morning and I had just gotten home from a party at a friend’s house. I heard someone from inside, as I approached the door and at that moment I wished I had decided to have an alarm installed when it was suggested. I went to turn on the light in my kitchen, and there was my landlord standing there with my shoes on. I looked at him with a confused look on my face, and I asked him why he was there. He claimed he was there to fix my air conditioner. This did not make sense, because as far as I knew, there was nothing wrong with it. My landlord stumbled over to the thermostat, tapped on it, and said once again that it wasn’t working right. I went over to where he was standing and slowly approached him. I smelled something on his breath that told me he was not in the right state of mind. I asked him to leave and told him it was not okay for him to be there, without my knowledge. He said that he only came over because he had gotten a call from one of his properties saying the air conditioner was broken. He claimed he could not remember which place the call was in reference to. I looked at him and repeated my statement and told him again to leave. He left immediately and I checked the thermostat and as I had already known, the air conditioning was just fine. One week later, I moved out.
