I won’t tell wife that rabbit escaped into ductwork

I’ve only been an HVAC technician for about six months.

Only recently, have I been allowed to work on my own. Of course, because I’m the newest member of the team, I’m stuck doing night shifts. It was during one of these shifts that I got an interesting call. An older gentleman called me and said that his wife’s pet rabbit had escaped and it was in the HVAC vents. He needed me to come and get the rabbit out before his wife got home from her retreat, in the morning. I rushed over and found that the customer had their HVAC vents located on the floor of their home. The ductwork runs underneath their house. If we were quiet, we could hear thumping and scampering in the ductwork. The man showed me where the rabbit had gotten through one of the uncovered vent. I crawled underneath the house and started taking the ductwork apart near where I believe the rabbit to be. Of course, the rabbit kept moving so I kept having to move different ductwork to find it. Finally, I was able to capture the little rabbit and return it to his very happy owner. The rabbit was promptly put back in his cage and I put the ductwork back together. Then I covered the vent with a new grate so that the rabbit could not get down into the ductwork again. I left the man with a cleaner ductwork system that is also sealed now. he told me he won’t be telling his wife about her rabbits escape and he paid the entire bill upfront and asked me not to send him anything further. He told me if there were any additional charges, to just give him a call.
