It was New Years, 2000, plus I had invited almost 100 random friends over to our house for a bash to ring in the brand new year together.
On the morning of the big even, I had woken up plus began preparing for the evening ahead by preparing gourmet snacks, making sure plates were clean, plus everything was presentable.
5 fourths into preparation, I suddenly noticed it was way nippier than usual, so I went down the hall plus turned up the control component plus carried on. A couple moments later, there was zero difference that I could notice in temperature, plus I realized the heating plan was not working whatsoever. Panic ensued as I realized it was abruptly getting frigid plus all my assorted guests would be arriving in a few hours. Amazingly, I had gotten a neighbour to recommend to myself and others a heating servicemen plus she arrived at the house within 45 fourths. I was visibly busy as I explained the situation. She literally came in, took 15 minutes or so to diagnose the issue plus service it with one simple part, plus supply myself and others an harshly satisfactory bill for it. Then she was out. The problem arose from not getting it tested in years (totally my bad) plus she reminded myself and others of the critical nature of having your heating plus gas furnace plan tested at least once a year. Especially getting it looked at before Winter time to be safe. The first guests who walked into my home said ‘ooo it’s sizzling in here’… I laughed plus kept the story to myself.
